About the event
Using Play Therapy in a school setting can feel both natural and daunting. This training will help a variety of types of school based therapists understand and navigate working in the school as a “host” setting, how to articulate their work to educators and parents, and how to successfully integrate as part of the school team. Therapists will learn about different Play Therapy theories and orientations such as Child Centered, Jungian, Adlerian, Cognitive Behavioral, and Gestalt, and be able to analyze which are best suited to their style, role and population. They will become more skilled in how to explain the power of play to other educators. Practical challenges such as how to structure a session, how to choose Play Therapy toys and materials, and how to furnish a sensory friendly play space on a budget will be addressed.
