Hello! My name is Aubrey. I am an intern at The Treehouse and starting my third year as a Master of Social Work student at New Mexico Highlands University. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Creighton University and am working toward becoming a Registered Play Therapist.
I first became interested in becoming a play therapist while working as a healthcare clown in hospitals and nursing homes. As a healthcare clown, I worked with a team to bring improvised play, connection, and joy to residents, patients, and staff in children's hospitals and other healthcare facilities. I am also very passionate about therapeutic puppetry and expressive arts, and I am excited to bring my love of play and creativity into the play therapy room!
Since I moved to Santa Fe in 2023, I have been working with children in a variety of settings: as a camp counselor, a reading specialist, a facilitator of grief groups for children and teens, and as a student support facilitator in public schools. In my free time, I make puppets, dance (often in my kitchen, while cooking!), go on walks in the park, and read books about the natural world.
I am so grateful for this opportunity to learn from this loving and playful community at The Treehouse!
