Hello, my name is Michelle Jaramillo, I am a native New Mexican that was born and raised in Northern New Mexico. I am very passionate about working with children and families in New Mexico. I obtained my bachelor's degree in psychology and Spanish in 2006 from the University of New Mexico. Upon graduating, I have 18 years experiencing working with children and families in early intervention who were experiencing adverse experiences from trauma, domestic violence, homelessness and families impacted by substance abuse. I also have experience and training working with children who have Autism and developmental delays and am a certified Developmental Specialist II. I currently have my master's in social work, clinical concentration and want to continue to grow and work with families and children therapeutically.
I consider myself to be a Humanistic and strengths-based therapist that feels that everyone has innate strengths to overcome life's obstacles and at times may need support to discover those strengths. My goal in therapy is to build relationship and rapport and create a safe space for clients. Some of my specialized training includes Circle of Security, Infant Massage, Motivational Interviewing, Matrix for Substance Abuse, DBT and Cognitive Processing Therapy. I also have interests in becoming EMDR certified and becoming a registered play therapist.
In my free time, I love to spend time with my husband, daughter and two dogs. As a family we like traveling, watching my daughter play soccer and having outdoor adventures. Some of my hobbies include watching movies, swimming, playing board games, reading and trying new restaurants. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio and I look forward to meeting you!
