Jenna Koors, LCSW
Hi! My name is Jenna (she, her). I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a mom, and a hard-core Lord of The Rings fan.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from The University of New Mexico in Sociology and Family Studies and my master’s degree in Social Work from Simmons University. For the past 14 years, I have served diverse populations working in agency-based, home-based, residential treatment, and inpatient settings serving people ages 2 to 92!
In my work I use a broad spectrum of interventions including evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Theraplay, AARC, Experiential Play Therapy, Sand Tray, DIRFloortime, Neurosequential Model, Solution-Focused Family Therapy, and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I am currently working toward certification as a Registered Play Therapist. I also utilize Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR, which is a highly effective treatment that relieves symptoms of PTSD, acute stress, anxiety, depression, and somatic disorders resulting from adverse life experiences. Research shows that most participants will experience a 60-90% reduction in symptoms as a result of EMDR treatment.
I am passionate about facilitating healing from past traumas, adverse life-experiences, and treating a variety of mental health concerns. I work with children, adolescents, adults, caregivers, and families from a trauma informed and attachment-based perspective. I provide support to others with complex emotions and life situations through respect, honesty, and empathy. My professional goals are to facilitate healing and inspire self-determination and empowerment!
