“At many times throughout their lives, children will feel like the world has turned topsy-turvy. It’s not the ever present smile that will help them feel secure. It’s knowing that love can hold many feelings, including sadness, and that they can count on the people they love to be with them until the world turns right side up again.”

Fred Rogers

The safety of our patients and families is our overriding priority. As the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues, we are monitoring the situation closely and following the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities. See the policies below that The Treehouse has put into place to ensure the safety and health of our staff, families, and community.

Thriving at Home Workbook

This workbook was compiled by a small group of play therapists in Albuquerque, New Mexico to support families while they are at home during the 2020 Coronavirus quarantine. These activities are intended to be a supplement to weekly Tele-play sessions with a licensed mental health therapist via a HIPAA compliant Telehealth software, and was created with the intention to be a tool to facilitate emotional regulation, open discussion, and healthy relationships in the home. The activities, worksheets, and strategies are a compilation of play therapy techniques from around the world.

With the diagnosis of Coronavirus in New Mexico, the staff at The Treehouse are taking actions to protect ourselves and our clients in case of a major outbreak of COVID-19 in Bernalillo county and the surrounding area. The office is taking precautions with cleaning all areas of the office and bathroom including daily wipe downs of all commonly used surfaces and toys. We ask that parents and other family members wait in the car or in the outside waiting space while their loved one is in their appointment. We use hand sanitizer upon entering the office and following any coughing, sneezing, blowing of your nose or use of the bathroom. In addition, we will take temperatures prior to entering the building. This will help protect all of us, our families, you and your family and other clients.

Please do not come to the office for an in-person session if you or anyone in your home are ill. Please also inform the office if anyone in your immediate workspace or your child’s classrooms have any known respiratory symptoms or if you or someone you are in close contact to have traveled internationally recently.

We are happy to offer telehealth sessions in place of your usually in-person session, but will enforce telehealth sessions if you have been exposed to respiratory illnesses, are feeling ill, or are recovering from illness. We utilize Zoom as a telehealth platform, ensuring your confidentiality with the ease of clicking a link to be in your provider’s “waiting room” . We would be happy to tell you more about telehealth, just give us a call or chat with your provider!

If you or someone in your family is too ill for us to meet at all, cancellations will be accepted without time limit or late cancellation fee and rescheduled as your provider’s availability allows. Please note that your provider may need to cancel or request to do telehealth sessions during the coming weeks in order to protect themselves, their families and all of their clients. Your provider will inform you with as much notice as possible if a change needs to be made to your appointments.
